ABSTRACT
This project examined the integration of women into Nigeria Police Force, the organizational changes in the roles of women in police work, their challenges as well as their impacts in policing since 1955. The project argues that gender discrimination and Lack of acceptance of women by the government and public hindered the integration of women into the police force until 25yeras after the establishment of Nigeria Police Force in 1930. Sexual harassment, unfairness of promotion and personal challenges constrained the roles of women police to the specialized duties of policing women and children. Women police have experienced a shift from the traditional limited functions to include other forms of police work, Furthermore, women police officers have also made positive impacts in the Nigeria Police Force such as addressing violence against women and sex crimes helped in improving police community relations, skilled at using communication to help in diffusing potentially volatile situations.
