ABSTRACT

A remarkable, nay phenomenal Nigerian woman - Funmilayo Ransom Kuti (nee Thomas), described as a feminist and political activist, the study recognizes FRKK's efforts to subvert social and political norms to become an active participant in the political affairs of her community and the nation. Her role in shaping the course of our political history is undeniable and unparalleled even in contemporary times. This research paper and the painting project proves the possibility of visually representing through oil medium the documentation of Funmilayo Ransom Kuti as the Lioness of Lisabi. Through the use of colours, composition, the research educate the Viewer on the possibility of painting becoming another way of documenting heroes and heroins. The painting project was executed through construction of stretcher, stretching the canvas and priming. It would also capture making of miniature sketch to the main canvas. The painting exercise include various stages and steps and finally detailing of figures. With the adherent to the elements and principles of design, under the project supervisor the painting project is regarded as successful.
