ABSTRACT
This survey was collected in order to report and compare the helminth parasitic-fauna associated with the anurans found in Ekpan in Uwvie L.G.A of Delta State of Nigeria.
The Anurans host examined include: Hoplobatrachus occipitalis, Ptychadena pumilio, Ptychadena mascareniensis, Sclerophrys maculatus, Hyperolius concolor, Hyalarana gamelensis. From these hosts were recorded various parasites. The parasites discovered in the samples collected include; Monogeneas , Trematodes, and Nematoda. They include: Polystoma pricei, Polystoma aeschlimanni, Mesocoelium monodi, Metahematoloechus micrurus, Metahaematoloechus. exoterochis, Diplodiscus fitschthalicus, Physaloptera spp., Aplectana mackintoshii, Cosmocerca ornata, Chabadus leberri, Camallanus dimitrovi, Amplicaecum africanum andAscaridoid larvae totaling 308.
It was discovered that the prevalence ranged between 6.7% and 100% while the mean intensity was relatively low with just the parasite Metahaematoloechus exoterochis > 10 parasites per infected host. For the host Hyperolius concolor there was no parasite recorded.
