SUMMARY
Health and safety practice at work is the sole of productivity. The study revealed that among the total participants, majority were male. This is not surprising as most oil companies are dominated by engineers and a few females go into such profession hence the high rate of males in the profession. The findings also revealed that those between 20 years and 30years were more while more than half of the participants were married. For example, 86(74.1%) of the participants were married. However, the sizes of the union were not disclosed. The findings further revealed that those with OND/HND holders were more representing 36.2% of the total participants while majority of the participants are Christians. The findings also show that majority of the participants are Yoruba. Although surprising because the ethnic group from the region were less represented in the company as the Urhobo, Ijaw and Itsekiri put together does not outnumber the Yoruba.
It was discovered that the participants are of the view that their boss at work is considerate with job function and encourage good safety practice. While supervisors act as the link between management and the shop floor, they monitor worker compliance to safety and provide feedback to workers concerning their behaviour.
