ABSTRACT

This project aims at the design, construction and testing of an electronic device that will control home appliances and systems from a remote location using a cell phone based interface.

The methodology employed in realizing this device involved the design of an embedded system that will receive/send an authentication code (DTMF) along with the required action from the user via Global System for mobile communication (GSM) and relay the authentication code to the microcontroller that will perform the required function/action and a return function confirmation that would be sent to the source of the original command (user’s phone).

The designed system was able to respond to its operation and control the turning ON and OFF of electrical or electronics appliances connected to it.
