Abstract
A study on the growth response of Cylindrospermum sp and Haematococcus pluvalis to herbicide was carried out in the laboratory for fourteen (14) days using different concentration 0%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% of herbicide. The growth responses were measured using a spectrophotometer of 750nm and results obtained were subjected to inferential one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Duncan Multiple Replication(DMR) were done using Microsoft Excel 2010 and statistical package for social sciences(SPSS22). The samples were analysed for some physiochemical parameters such as temperature, total dissolved solids, pH and conductivity were evaluated. The results showed that Cylindrospermum sp and Haematococcus pluvalishad growth inhibition. There was significant difference p<0.05 in the growth response of microalgae. There was an increase in TDS, Temperature, conductivity after the experiment. The test microalgae Cylindrospermum sp and Haematococcus pluvaliscannot be used for bioremediation.
