ABSTRACT

This study examine group member’s roles and group performance among student of University of Benin, Benin City. To facilitate the study, questionnaires were administered and relationship were proposed on group member roles and group performance among student in the University of Benin. The use of grand mean was established to examine the relationship. A sample120 questionnaire was distributed to Business Administration students in the faculty of management Sciences University of Benin. The study found out that there is different perceptions on group performance which is based on how student evaluate performance in a group tasks. It found out that student attitude towards group related tasks in University of Benin is not encouraging. Also diversities of member roles in a group related tasks under taken by student shows that conflict reduces productivity and individual capacity and group performance. Lastly the researcher observed that there is a relationship between member role and group performance among student in University of Benin is significant. We recommend among others; that a group is a collection of personalities with different characteristics needs and influence.
