ABSTRACT
This research study examined the relationship between greed and violent crimes in Nigerian society, with a focus on ritual murder by Nigerian youths in Edo State. The need for this research was a result of the increasing rate of ritual murder by youths in Edo state in particular and in Nigeria in general. The research work utilized the social survey method; the instrument deployed for this research was the administration of questionnaire, while Data collected was analyzed with the Statistical package for social science (SPSS). The findings suggest that greed, poverty, and the search for quick wealth are major drivers of ritual murder among Nigerian youths. Recommendations include the need for poverty alleviation programs, improved education and employment opportunities, and strengthened law enforcement.”
