ABSTRACT

The Granulometric study of well “Tmailz” in the Niger Delta shows that the grain size is dominantly medium-grained, but is fine and coarse in some instances. Sorting range from very poor to very well sorted and shape is sub–angular to sub rounded. The skewness values indicate positive and symmetrical for eight core samples while negatively skewed for sixteen core samples. Based on the Granulometric analysis, a fluvial environment of deposition is interpreted for the succession. The interpretation of histograms, cumulative curves, bivariate plot, and of the Passega diagram is used in the attempt to explain the dynamic and genetic reasons for the presence of a particular type of sediment in locations characterised by different environmental energy conditions. From the studies most of the analyzed samples are deposited in the Delta influenced by fluvial and waves actions revealing beach sediments and turbidities which are in line with textural characteristics.
