ABSTRACT
This study takes a critical examination of the ideologies contained in stylistic features of Niyi Osundare's My Lord tell me where to keep your Bribe. It examines the idea of corruption in the judiciary system by viewing the actions of judges and how the poet exposes all these through his choice of language. This study is motivated by the aim of advocacy against corruption especially in the judiciary system.
This study employs a descriptive and analytical method of analysis using the tenets of critical stylistics as a theoretical framework to analyze the text. The objective is to demonstrate that language serves not merely as an instrument for artistic expression, but also as a crucial element in deciphering literary works and comprehending the author's intended message.
This study finds that features such as punctuations, capitalization, fonting, repetition and parallelism, alliteration, assonance, metaphors, personification, Irony, simile, can convey certain ideological meaning and in this study, portray the ideology of corruption in the judiciary system.
