ABSTRACT
Dating back to ancient times, documentation has been a part of human existence. The markings on the caves by the early men served more than aesthetics propose, but they served as markings that would point the future generation to the beginning of life. Beginning from the period of the early men, art has been a very useful skill in documentation, with focus mainly on the artist’s subject rather than the artist himself or herself. Due to this approach to documentation, the lives of a large number of artists overtime are left undocumented. Documentation is saved for those influential and famous artists from time past to the present, hence losing valuable information on artists over time. This study is similar to these markings because it aimed at filling up the loopholes in the proper documentation of artists known (renowned) or unknown to serve as a source of information for younger generations. The painting project was executed through the construction of a stretcher, stretching the canvas, and priming. It would also capture the making of a miniature sketch for the main canvas. The painting exercise includes various stages and steps, and finally, the detailing of figures. The painting project is considered successful when the elements and principles of design are followed and the project supervisor is present. This painting project proves the possibility of visually representing through oil medium the documentation of some deceased artists who passed away before gaining proper acclaim. Through the use of colors and composition, the researcher educates the viewer on the possibility of painting becoming another way of documenting.
