ABSTRACT
Groundwater potential assessment using the vertical electrical sounding (VES) technique was carried out at Adolor residential area of Benin City, southern Nigeria. A total of 4 VES were carried-out using Schlumberger electrode array. The data was interpreted quantitatively using the partial curve matching and computer iteration techniques to generate the first order geoelectric parameters. The VES results reveal that the lithologies are divided into topsoil, lateritic soil, Sandy clay/clayey sand/clay/dry sand and saturated sand. Boreholes can be drilled to a depth of about 25.65m. This study has provided an insight to the subsurface condition of the aquifer systems and delineated areas for probable groundwater development in Adolor residential area, Ugbowo.
