ABSTRACT
The experiment was carried out to investigate the genetic distance of Toll-like receptor 4 gene on rabbit breeds. A total number of forty rabbits of four different genetic groups consisting of 10 Chinchilla, 10 New Zealand Black (NZB), 10 Hyla and 10 Dutch (DUT) were used for this study. Blood samples were collected from Chinchilla male parent, F1 generation crossbred (CH x NZB) male, Hyla female parent, F1 Hyla male, F1 Dutch Male, and New Zealand black Male parent to determine the genetic distance between the rabbit. Result shows that there was no significant difference for most studied variability among the four genotypes, except the Hyla parent with (D= 0.160). Analysis of variance showed significant differences for this trait genotype (HYLA parent) from the other genotypes (CHI, DUT f1, CHI cross and HYLA f1). The genetic variability within breeds were in general low and average to be 0.000, 0.149, 0.160 and 0.149 in Chinchilla cross (CHI x NZB), Chinchilla, Hyla F1, Hyla Parent and Dutch, representatively (Table 4.1).
