ABSTRACT
Gender differences explains the male and female gender, and how they use language differently. This research further investigated the gender differences in communication, using social network sites, and language use in social network sites using Facebook as case study. The investigation was based on Deborah Tannen’ s theory of the six contrasts between male and female language. The findings show that these contrasts exist in written language between male and female. In the process of conducting the research, the researcher used the qualitative method as data were taken from comments on Facebook posts. Tables were used to identify and analyze the comments made by each gender, using Tannen's theory, the researcher went ahead to provide discussions, and summarize the study which confirms that gender is a strong feature in language that affects people in their ways of communication.
