CONCLUSION

This essay explored how Lola Shoneyin and Nawal El Saadawi present the concept of gender and gender insecurity in their respective novels: The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives and Woman at Point Zero, usingradicalfeminist theory and snail sense feminist theory. While noting the important role of literary techniques in illustrating the themes of these texts, the concept of gender is explored from the lenses of gender stereotype and inequality with deliberate focus on the lives of the characters to show that they cause gender insecurity in marriages.
