Abstract

This essay has examined that innovation by showing how originality of ideas and the creation of technological objects, facilitates a better life for the society, reflected by the choices the characters make in Temi Oh's Do You Dream of Terra-Two, Nnedi Okorafor's Binti and Deji Bryce Olakotun's Nigerians in Space which shows through the themes of futurism, globalism and African identity. As shown in this paper, innovation is not all only about technological or science based ground breaking discoveries, it is also in the originality of ideas, the presentation of events in a fresh perspective, the subverting of stereotypical purpose those utilities are used, innovation mirrors the society.
