ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to identify the fungi associated with the leaf blight of Newbouldia laevis. The diseased leaves of N. laevis were obtained around the faculty of Agriculture, University of Benin, Ugbowo Campus, Benin City. The medium used for this study was Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA). Other laboratory exercises which ranged from isolation, sub-culturing and identification of isolates under the light microscope were carried out. The symptoms observed on the leaves were darkish brown to black lesions/spots around the edges of the leaves. Two fungal organisms were found to be associated with the leaf blight of Newbouldia laevis. They are: Sclerotium rolfsii and an unidentified one. It is recommended that more research work on how to control the leaf blight of N. laevis be carried out.
