ABSTRACT
The Nigerian film industry also known as Nollywood has gained remarkable success and global recognition for the number of films annually produced. However, the lack of adequate Funding remains a significant hurdle that continuously plagues the industry. Therefore, the primary objective of this study is to examine the various challenges of funding faced by filmmakers, exploring it's negative implications on the films being produced and proffer potential solutions to lessen these challenges. To achieve these objectives, the research employs a comprehensive review of existing literature on Nigerian cinema and film financing. Qualitative interviews with industry experts were also utilized for the gathering of substantial information. Understanding the funding challenges in Nigerian filmmaking is important as it provides valuable insights for filmmakers, investors and anyone interested in supporting the growth of Nollywood.
