ABSTRACT

A total of fifteen (45) samples from the CICE 1 Well were provided for sedimentological analysis between the interval of 9500ft-12800ft with the aim of carrying out a detailed foraminifera biostratigraphic analysis on fifteen (15) of the ditch cutting samples from the well. The sedimentological analysis with sample description yielded lithologies that are sandy shale, shaly, and shaly sand. The minerals observed are quartz, micas, clay minerals and carbonates. The sediments were treated in the laboratory to concentrate the foraminifera and promote their microscopic observation. The sediments recovered from the CICE 1 Well in Niger Delta are middle-late Miocene in age based on the occurrence of stratigraphic markers Eggerella scabra, Cassigerinella chipollensis, Globigerinoides subquadratus. Foraminifera Zonation of the well was based on the first downhole and last downhole occurrence of chronostratigraphically significant species. The depositional environment is shallow from inner neritic to middle neritic.
