ABSTRACT

Foraminifera micropaleontology of sequence stratigraphy in DC-1 well Niger Delta Basin were carried out using foraminifera biostratigraphy as geologic tools. The foraminifera abundances revealed four bio zones, P770, P784, P820, P830 which were suggested based on index species among the recovered foraminifera assemblages while the maximum flooding surface has three peaks 5178ft,7589ft and 9800ft. A total of twelve thousand ninty-four (12094) foraminifera species were recorded, most of the species recorded are planktic foram, calcareous and arenaceous benthic foraminifera species. The evaluation of these foraminifera species enabled the stratigrapher to recognize the zones. The studied intervals in the wells are dated Early Miocene – Middle Miocene. And the suggestion for further worksSets of logs (Gamma, Neutron, Density, Resistivity) should be integrated with this work.More wells should be studied in the field for a high resolution sequence stratigraphic model across the field.More intervals should be analyzed for biostratigraphy and geochemical evaluation to have more information of the sedimentary succession .
