SUMMARY
Folklore is necessarily essential in the understanding and in transmitting values, cultures and traditional ways of life of a people. Folklore allows people to give meaning to their lives, music, art and their surroundings because every culture has different historical backgrounds and traditions which are embedded in their folklore. This essay examined the deployment of folklore in Bosede Afolayan's Once upon an Elephant and Ahmed Yerim's Orisa Ibeji .The various depictions of folklore are studied in these plays. On one hand, the deployment of proverbs, chants and songs are examined in the plays under studied.
