ABSTRACT
This study investigated the use of film as a tool for conflict resolution. Conflicts of all kinds, including political and economic as well as ethnic and religious, have afflicted the nation. The study highlighted how the movie “Mr.& Mrs.” is projected as an instrument for conflict resolution in society. Specifically, this study showed the points of conflict in the film, discussed the ways in which the conflict(s) in the movie are projected by the filmmaker while also Highlighting the conflict management/resolution approaches suggested by the filmmaker. It stated how the movie’s resolution constitutes a framework for actual conflict resolution in real society. This study made make use of the content analysis module. A critical analysis of the Nollywood movie “Mr and Mrs” directed by Ikechukwu Onyeka was used to achieve the researchers objectives. This research showed that film is a powerful yet effective tool in communicating to the society, and can be a major tool for conflict resolution in the country. Most film makers make films to solely entertain but this study has proven that it could be used to communicate and change any ill in the society, as well as create awareness on the importance of not just watching films for entertainment but also focusing on the underlying messages that they carry.
