ABSTRACT

This study was undertaken to explore the oppressive nature of the patriarchal society on the female folk and how their voices of resistance and freedom bought about a vindication and freedom from the enslavement of the men in their respective societies. The study examines the conflicting culture of the western world and the African society is highlighted in this study. The play right Ola Rotimi in our husband has gone mad again and Osadebamen Oscar the Scar exposes the oppressing culture of the African society which relegates the woman to the bedroom and kitchen as they  consider the woman as a lesser gender and deny her of equality in the society. The western culture which is portrayed as enlighten contrast the ignorant, proud Africans. Lejoka Brown in Our Husband has gone mad again refers to Sikira as an ordinary and soft because she’s a woman. The study set to correct and confront how women in African society are treated, employing the liberal feminism through the use of dialogue between male and female characters. to eradicate the evils against the women of the African society. It concludes by establishing equality of the sexes through the prevailing voice of resistance and freedom by the enlightened women of the African society
