ABSTRACT
This study explores the feminine construction in Peter Onwudinjo’s Songs of the Fire Place. It highlights the importance of fertility in marriage, the societal belief towards the African women and the role accorded to them the African society. It furthers examines women’s resistance to a patriarchal society and how women uphold patriarchy as well as their role in oppressing their fellow women in the African Society. The study adopts the , qualitative method of research and employs the feminist theory to demonstrate the theory ; in accordance with the primary and the secondary texts used in this essay. This is attained } through critical analysis of the text alongside the subject matter of gender inequality and depiction of resistance to patriarchal society.
