ABSTRACT
Over the world, Women experience unwanted pregnancy, some of these women seek to terminate the pregnancy by safe medical means, if possible but most times it is by whatever means available. The termination of pregnancies mostly known generally as "Abortion" is a universal phenomenon occurring throughout all levels of societal organization and in recorded history.Abortion either medical or criminal has been recorded to have distinctive physical, social, and psychological side effects. There are Detected types and frequent psychological side effects of abortion. There are too many factors attributed to abortion which cover socio-economic, emotional, and psychological aspects of human beings' life, particularly those women who are direct beds of abortion practices. Abortion is known as a main cause of maternal mortality, life threatening complications such as hemorrhage, fever, and infection on one hand, and psychological disorders such as regret, guilt, smoking, alcoholism, self-destructive behaviors, and even suicide on the other. Despite the fact that abortion has been practiced over the world throughout the history, there are still controversies about abortion in terms of its legitimacy and consequences. Abortion is contested, stigmatized and demonized despite being practiced throughout human history. Even where it is legal and safe, it remains a political and social battleground. Abortion has never been simply an issue about individual health or social benefit, and this focus leaves us with a hopelessly tangled muddle of the personal and the political which satisfies no one. Although abortion occurs in every society, and a substantial proportion of pregnancies are resolved by abortion worldwide, there is little empirical research on why women obtain abortions. This research work focuses on abortion, its effects and consequences, the Necessitating factors of Abortion and different religious responses to Abortion.
