ABSTRACT
The study specifically examines federal character on national productivity: A Case Study of National Planning Commission. The perennial problem of imbalance in our national life had revolved around other sectors of the economy, the immediate problem which prompted the research to investigate on is the issues relating to the allocation of educationally based positions among the federating units relates to federal character principle which means that all the geo-political zones will be given equal chance for the appointment and output-efficiency as it relates to observation of federal character principle. The primary objectives o1' the paper are: to examine the relationship between federal character policy and productivity of Nigeria public service; to investigate whether certain standard are maintained in the course of' recruitment in the country's civil service in respect to federal character and to determine the factors militating against productivity in the Nigeria public service. Both secondary and primary sources of data was used for the study. A descriptive survey design was used with a sample size of 30 respondents which was drawn from both male and female adults of voting age (18 years and above). There is a strong relationship between pricing strategies and consumer goods in Nigeria. Findings from the study revealed that there is a relationship between federal character policy and productivity of Nigeria public service. There is a standard maintained in the course of recruitment on federal character policy in the country's public service. Recommendations for the study include; Lack of representation in policy making and implementation by some segments of the Nigerian society in the past has denied them the opportunities for education and economic advancement. Therefore, all the segments of the Nigerian society must be represented in policy making and its implementation so as to encourage education and also boost the Nigerian economy.
