ABSTRACT

The study investigated the family location and socio economic factor as determinant of accessibility of early childhood education. Also the interest of the study was the relationship between family location and socio economic status on the accessibility of early childhood education. To guide this study three research questions were raised. The three were all answered directly. This study was a description survey research which adopted the correlational research design. The population was made up of all primary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state. The sample size was 6 schools selected through random sampling techniques. The instruments used to collect the data was a questionnaire. The data collected were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, Pearson rand z statistics. The results includes that the school was accessible, but difficult to get to their school, the roads, signboard and school facilities are accessible. Based on the findings, the following recommendation were made among others. To ensure accessibility to early childhood education, it’s essential to consider socio economic factor that can impact a family’s ability to access educational resources, lookout for neighborhood or communities that offer affordable or subsidized early childhood programs.
