ABSTRACT
This project work was carried out on the Gompertz distribution and its application. The Gompertz distribution was developed exclusively for human and is important in describing the patterns of deaths.
In this work, the various terms associated with the Gompertz distribution are defined, a general introduction giving a background to Gompertz distribution was also given. A literature review of similar works on Gompertz distribution was presented. The methodology, properties, estimation, uses, advantages and disadvantages of the Gompertz distribution was studied. The distribution is applied to real life data and the hazard and survival rates are derived.
Conclusion are then drawn from the data analysis. From my findings, the survival function and hazard function of the Gompertz distribution decreases and increases respectively as time increases.
