The sample size was calculated using the formulae for estimating prevalence in a descriptive study where study population is more than 40,000, the population of the study consisted of all staff and students in the University of Benin, 700 participants was used as sample size. The main instrument for the study was a self-structured questionnaire. The validity of the instrument was established by giving it to the supervisor of the research work. The questionnaire was distributed directly to the respondents by the researcher.
After the collection and collation of the instrument, the data obtained were subjected to analysis using descriptive statistics involving the use of percentages. The results reveal that effective treatment is a major factor determining their choice of health care. This was demonstrated in the high responses to items relating to the level of effective treatment which shows high response from the students as against the low response.
