ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to investigate the factors militating against the Teaching and Learning of History in senior Secondary schools: a case study of Ovia North-East local government area, Edo state. After rendering the background of the study, the researcher also embarked on the review of related literature to the study. A total number of two hundred and twelve (212) history teachers and four thousand six hundred and seven( 4607) students were used in the methodology of the study, each were given a well-structured questionnaire. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study and the population used for this study was 4607 students and 212 teachers cut across 28 public senior secondary schools in Ovia North-East Local government area. Source: Ministry of Education, Edo State, Public Senior secondary Enroll, a simple random sampling technique was used and 105 respondents were drawn from the population as a sample for this study. The instrument used for this 2019/2020 session. This study was a self-constructed made questionnaire making up to two session, one for the teachers and the other for the students. A split half method was used to check the reliability of the instrument. The data collected was analyzed using frequency count and simple percentage.
