ABSTRACT

The study investigated the factors influencing the unemployment of business education graduates in tertiary institutions in Nigeria using Benson Idahosa University as case study. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study.

The population of the study comprised of the Business Educators in  Benson Idahosa University in Edo State totaling a number of  270 (two hundred and seventy) while there was no sample size since the population was manageable. A structured questionnaire titled:  Factors Influencing the Unemployment of Business Education Graduates Questionnaire (BEQ) was used for Data collection. The instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor as well as two other experts in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education. Data were analyzed with mean and standard deviation.

 The study concludes deficient curriculum of Business Education significantly influenced the unemployment of Business Education graduates as it accelerated an poor delivery and quality of their delivery of the requisite skills to students for self reliance. Based on the findings of the study, the in service training and seminars to adequately update their level of knowledge to impart students with the requisite skills for self- reliance  to mention but a few.
