ABSTRACT
Family planning is a way of thinking and living that is adopted voluntarily, upon the basis of knowledge, attitude and responsible decision by individuals and couples in order to promote the health and welfare of family group and thus contribute effectively to the social development of a country. It is a means and methods that allow individuals to decide if and when to have children and it includes a wide range of contraceptives, including pills, implants, intrauterine devices, surgical procedures that limit fertility, and barrier methods such as condoms, as well as non-invasive methods such as calendar method and abstinence. The study employs the descriptive survey. A total of three hundred (300) women of child bearing age were sampled using multistage sample for the study. The data shows socio-demographic characteristics Majority 177(59%) were within the age range of 21-30, most of them 264(88%) were Christians, majority 297(99%) were married, 149(49%) had tertiary education, most respondents 102(34%) were from the Bini ethnic group, most respondents 115(38.3%) . The study showed that majority (70.3%) of the respondents had positive level of attitude towards family planning and (29.7%) has negative level of attitude towards family planning.
