ABSTRACT
This study was taken to investigate the factors influencing the attitude of undergraduate students towards democratic values. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. The study was delimited to undergraduate of the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria and National Open University.
The study adopted the survey research. The population consisted of undergraduates of University of Benin and National Open University, The sample size was one hundred students from both institutions. The simple random sampling technique was used. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The instrument was validated by the researcher's supervisor. Questionnaires were passively administered by the researcher. Data was analyzed using simple percentages.
Finding from the study showed that students have positive attitude towards democratic value. It was therefore concluded that through the teaching of social studies, students have been exposed to the ideals of democracy and it was therefore recommended that teachers should continue to teach and exhibit desirable democratic values for students to imbibe.
