ABSTRACT
The study examined factors influencing the academic performance of Economics students in public senior secondary school in Egor local government area of Edo State. The specific objectives of the study were aimed at finding out the influence of teacher’s motivation on the academic performance of students, the influence of teaching aids on the academic performance of students, the impact of parental involvement on the academic performance of students and the relationship between socio-economic factors and academic performance of students in Egor local government area in Edo state. The research adopted a descriptive survey design. The population of this study comprises of thirteen (13) public senior secondary school in Egor local government area. A sample of 3 school were selected. The researcher used a questionnaire as an instrument of data collection. This was done by distributing 58 questionnaires to senior secondary students in 3 different schools. The findings from this study indicated that there is a positive relationship between the factors and the academic performance of students. Based on the findings, the researcher recommends that teachers should be provided with incentives and recognition for them to boost their motivation and job satisfaction, teaching Aids should be provided to support teachers, Parents should be encouraged to provide resources and support to help their children's learning and initiatives to address socio-economic disparities should be implemented.
