Factors influencing students' attitudes toward democratic values

ABSTRACT

This study looked at the factors influencing students' attitudes toward democratic values at the University of Benin. Four research questions were posed to guide the study in light of its goal. Using a straightforward random sample procedure, a total of 120 respondents were chosen for the study. A questionnaire served as the main data collection tool. The data was gathered, and frequency count simple percentage was used to analyze it.

The findings showed that some attitudes, such as a love of money and selfishness, political indifference, and ignorance, have an impact on University of Benin freshmen. A study also demonstrates that despite widespread power abuse in the Student Union Government, undergraduates recognize the law's primacy over everyone.

Students need to be educated on the importance of having strong democratic principles like honesty and transparency when voting and performing civic tasks.
