ABSTRACT
This study investigated the factors influencing the career choice of secondary school students in Isoko South Local Government of Delta State. In the course of this study, the descriptive survey research design chosen for the study and simple random techniques were used to get the respondents and data for the survey. A total of hundred respondents were used as the sample study size. The instrument was validated and tested for reliability. Responses from the questionnaires were used to answer the four research questions that were raised to guide the study. From the findings, it was discovered that peer group influence the career choice of students, parents have influence on the career choice of their children, students' gender has no influence on the students career choice and the students career choice have no influence on the student academic performance in Secondary Schools in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State. However, majority of the students do not receive first hand training and orientation in making a career choice. Based on the findings, the study recommended amongst others; the proper guidance and orientation of students as regards their career choice. Also, parents should endeavor to enlighten their children on different career choices available to them at tender age so they can choose the one suitable.
