ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to determine factors affecting the utilization of the nursing process among nurses in selected ward in University of Benin Teaching Hospital Benin City. The study used a descriptive cross-sectional research design. Convenience sampling technique was used. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed using frequency tables, simple percentage, mean with standard deviation. The following findings were established among nursing staff working in UBTH. Majority of nurses have good knowledge towards the utilization of nursing process in managing patients evidenced by a mean of 2.9. The study identified that most nurses utilize that nursing process in delivering nursing care.
And agreed that various factors influence the utilization of nursing process by nurses like, poor communication between nurses and patient reduce the practice of nursing process, nurse- patient ratio, filling nursing care plan is difficult and takes much time and believe that nursing process increase the workload of nurses.
