FACIAL RECOGNITION AND FINGERPRINT BIOMETRIC SECURITY SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATED TELLER MACHINE (ATM)

ABSTRACT

The adoption of the automated teller machine as an electronic banking channel has positively impacted the banking industry worldwide because it is very effective and convenient for bank customers. Fraud associated with automated teller machine has however been a menace for many banks all over the world and many banks now aim to eradicate fraud costs to the bank. In order to proffer solution to these fraud, a facial recognition and fingerprint biometric security system for automated teller machine (ATM) was developed. The Face and fingerprint Recognition Systems can provide a practical and workable solution that addresses the requirements of the regulatory authority of the banks. The front end of this program was designed with visual basic 2010.Net and the back end was designed with Microsoft Access Database. The Face and fingerprint Recognition System is also cheaper to deploy, it will positively impact the banking industry and the society by reducing the rising levels of crimes that are associated with Automated Teller Machine transactions.
