ABSTRACT
Tetracarpidium conoforum, family- Euphorbiaceae has been reported to have traditional uses in the treatment of various ailments and conditions sucg as malaria, infertility and broken/fractured bones amongst others. Due to parasitic resistance to some conventional drugs there is need for more drugs to be discovered. This study investigated Tetracarpidium conoforum plants phytoconstituents using spectroscopic methods such as ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-VIS), fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The root bark extracts were extracted by maceration using methanol and hexane. The crude extracts recovered by rotary evaporator were screened for their phyto constituents using standard methods, UV-VIS, FT-IR, and HPLC. Phenolics, terpenoids, glycosides and flavonoids were present in both extracts while lupeol and juglone were detected by the chromatographic technique.
