ABSTRACT
Avocado (Persea Americana Mill) is a plant that grows wild in many parts of the tropics. Avocado is well known for its exceptional nutritional and medicinal properties. However, avocado is also known for its health uses in some non-western cultures where green fruits and leaves are also eaten cooked as well as raw. The study was carried out to examine the yield of oil extracted from the dried seed of avocado by solvent extraction method. The Physicochemical properties and antimicrobial activities of the seed were assessed. Thus it can be concluded that the seed can be utilized for extraction of avocado seed oil which have various health benefits in respect to the antimicrobial agents present and its ability, to be a non drying oil and edibility due to the Physicochemical properties.
