ABSTRACT

This study examines the importance of vocabulary development in the English Language education of primary school pupils in Ovia North East Local Government Area. This study adopted survey research design. The population of this research was all the 98 public primary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area out of which 20 schools was selected as the sample using simple random sampling technique. The method of data analysis employed was the descriptive statistics. The study finds that vocabulary development is important in the English language education of primary school peoples in Ovia North East Local Government Area to help in the development of their English language as they relate in the classroom.

This study recommends amongst other things that the Government should be ready to fund schools so that there will be enough vocabulary development instruction tools to teach vocabulary development.
