ABSTRACT
This study explores the efficacy of home management as a tool for mitigating domestic violence in Edo state. Six (6) research questions were raised to guide the study. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. The population of this study comprised of twelve thousand and nineteen (12,019) Correspondents. The sample of the study was made up of one hundred (100) respondents which are basically parents (male and female) from Ekosodin community in Edo State.
The research instrument used for data collection was a self-structured questionnaire titled “the Efficacy of Home Management as a Tool for Mitigating Domestic Violence in Edo State”. The instrument for data collection was subjected to face validity by the researcher's supervisor and two other experts from the Department of Vocational and Technical Education, Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City. To establish the reliability of the instrument, the internal consistency of the items were measured using the Cronbach alpha statistical tool. It yielded an alpha value of 0.86. The study used statistical analysis methods including mean, standard deviation, and two-sample independent t-tests to explore the efficacy of home management as a tool for mitigating domestic violence in Edo State.
Findings revealed that there are reasons behind domestic violence against women in Edo state such as Economic dependence, Isolation.andFindings also revealed the extent physical abuse suffered by women in their homes in Edo State which includehitting, punching, kicking, choking, it was concluded that Industrial Training in Home Economics significantly promotes the entrepreneurial skills development of students .
