ABSTRACT
This study explores the effects of different recovery strategies on exercise performance and fatigue among University of Benin students athletes. Recognizing the critical role of utilizing different recovery strategies in promoting exercise performance and reducing fatigue, this research aims to quantify the effects of different recovery strategies on exercise performance and fatigue among University of Benin students athletes.. The sample comprised 40 participants, including who were present during the study period. Data collection utilized a researcher-made instrument titled “exploring the effects of different recovery strategies on exercise performance and fatigue among University of Benin students athletes”(EEDRSEPFUBSA), which demonstrated a reliability coefficient of 0.92.
Preliminary findings indicate significant effect of different recovery strategies on exercise performance and fatigue on students athletes. These results underscore the importance of utilizing different recovery strategies in optimizing performance and reducing fatigue.
Analysis of the data, employing a criterion mean of 2.50, indicated that utilizing different recovery strategies after exercise positively influences student athletes exercise performance and fatigue in the University of Benin. However, they encounter some constraints that limit their utilization of different recovery strategies, such as time constraints due to academic and personal responsibilities and limited access to recovery facilities such as ice baths and massage centers. The study recommends that comparative studies can also be conducted on recovery practices among student-athletes in different universities or sports disciplines.Future research on recovery strategies should be conducted on exploring alternative recovery strategies, such as meditation, cryotherapy, and compression therapy.
