The theme of this research centres on the relationship between the socio-economic factors of the students and the academic achievement of students in Fine Arts in selected schools in Ibadan. The following hypothesis were postulated and tested. There is no significant relationship between socio- economic background of the family and academic performance of students in Fine Arts, there is no significant relationship between academic attainment of the parents and students performance in Fine Arts, there is no significant relationship between parents occupation and students’ performance in Fine Arts, there is no significant relationship between family size and students’ performance in Fine Arts, questionnaire which consisted of series of questions were distributed by the researcher to the students himself. Two hundred Fine-Art students of both sexes from selected ten schools were used as sample size. The result is that all four hypotheses were rejected. The educational standard of parents has relationship on students’ performance, also occupation of parents has relationship with students achievement and performance in Fine-Arts. It was also discovered that both socio-economic status and the family size (monogamy/ polygamy) have no relationship with academic performance of the students in Fine-Arts. As a result of the analysis recommendations were made in order to improve the academic performance of students in Fine Arts from low socio-economic, broken and polygamous homes.
