ABSTRACT
This study delves into the dynamic landscape of digital transformation in theatre, focusing on The Lion King Live Musical production at the University of Benin Theatre, as a case study to illuminate the role of digital media designers. Through an interdisciplinary lens, the research examines the historical evolution, theoretical underpinnings, and practical applications of digital technologies in live performance. Drawing on insights from literature review, case study analysis, and audience reception, the study explores how digital media designers collaborate with other creative professionals to integrate innovative technologies into theatrical productions. By investigating the creative processes, technical innovations, and audience experiences of The Lion King Musical, this research sheds light on the transformative potential of digital technologies in shaping contemporary theatre practice. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the synergistic relationship between art and technology, offering insights into the challenges, opportunities, and ethical considerations inherent in the digital transformation of theatre.
