ABSTRACT
The Igue Festival in the Benin Kingdom is a captivating cultural event renowned for its vibrant theatrical display of theoretical elements. This research project aims to understand these theatrical elements and assess their impact on tourism. The study examined the various theatrical components within the Igue festival. These include traditional dances, elaborate costumes, symbolic rituals, and storytelling performances. By reviewing existing literature and scholarly works, the study uncovered the historical significance and artistic symbolism behind these elements. The study adopted a qualitative approach, which involved analysing documents to gain various perspective and experiences. Through the document analysis research method, I will investigate how the festival can contribute to tourism in the Benin Kingdom by attracting visitors, fostering cultural exchange, and shaping the destination’s identity. The work would help deepen understanding concerns, theatrical elements in Igue festival and their potential towards boosting tourism. By shedding light on their cultural significance and tourism value, the work provides insights for stakeholders and scholars who are interested in cultural tourism and community development.
