ABSTRACT

This research work examines electronic contracts in Nigeria and the need for more regulations and its relativity to modernization and development. It further examines the nature and extent of environmental pollution and the concept of access to justice in relation to environmental matters in Nigeria. It also identifies the various laws protecting the environment and the environmental rights of citizens in Nigeria. The research adopts the doctrinal method. This research, observes that environmental pollution is a global concern and many countries are faced with the challenge of protecting their environment and creating a safe, healthy and sustainable environment for the well-being of their citizens. The study also finds that environmental laws have evolved since the need thereof was discovered. Over the years, more specific laws to tackle specific areas of pollution have been enacted. More stringent punishments have been imposed and several regulatory agencies have been established to ensure compliance and enforce these laws in the different parts of the countries. Based on the findings, the research recommends that environmental needs should be prioritized, and enforcement agencies should be adequately funded to enable them hire trained personnel and acquire the necessary facilities required to enforce the law. It therefore concludes that the problem of environmental pollution is not one that can be solved by just the people or the government. This means that while the government has obligations to provide a clean and health environment for its citizenry, the citizens also have a duty to ensure that they carry out their activities in the best interest of the public and environment.
