ABSTRACT
This study explores the evolution of various styles of architecture throughout history, highlighting their distinctive characteristics key influences, and lasting impact on the built environment. By examining notable architectural styles from different periods, ranging from ancient civilizations to modern movements, this research aims to shed light on the dynamic nature of architectural design and its response to cultural, technological and social transformations.The study adopts a comparative analysis approach, examining the similarities, differences and progression of architectural styles across time and geographic regions. It investigates the factors that shaped architectural trends such as advancements in construction techniques, changes in societal values, and the influence of prominent architects and thinkers. Additionally, the study explores the interplay between architectural styles and the broader cultural context in which they emerged, emphasizing the reciprocal relationship between architecture and society. Through a comprehensive review of scholarly literature, historical records, and visual documentation, this research traces the evolution of architectural styles across distinct eras. It examines key styles, including but not limited to ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassical, Art Nouveau, Modernist, Postmodern and Contemporary architecture. The analysis identifies the defining features, design principles and notable examples of each style, while also highlighting the connections and influences between different periods. The findings of this study contribute to a deeper understanding of architectural history and its continuous development. By comprehensively analyzing the evolution of architectural styles, this research provides insights into the transformative power of design and its ability to reflect and shape society. The knowledge gained from this study can inform architects, urban planners and historians, offering a valuable perspective on the evolution of architectural aesthetics and the lessons they hold for contemporary practice.
