ABSTRACT

Young people represent the most valuable resource for any nation, not only as future leaders but also as significant contributors to a country's development. Their potential and active involvement in various sectors serve as crucial indicators of a nation's capacity for reproduction and sustainability. The level of their vigor, conscientious behavior, and societal engagement directly correlates with the overall progress and advancement of the country (FGN, 2019). Unfortunately, numerous energetic youths endure unemployment, health challenges, and inadequate support. The task of fulfilling the aspirations and ambitions of young individuals rests on the shoulders of various stakeholders, private organizations were the government should take the lead role. The evaluation of the role of youth in the socio-economic development of Ohovbe Community shows that the contributions of youth to the socio-economic development of Ohovbe Community. It highlights the low development status attributed to youth migration to urban areas in search of white-collar jobs, resulting in decreased youth involvement in local socio-economic activities. Rural-urban migration exacerbates this issue, leading to a decline in youth participation within Ohovbe's socio-economic landscape. In response, affluent individuals in the Community have initiated investments aimed at supporting youth development and engagement. The factors affecting the involvement of youth in the socio- economic development in Ohovbe Community include the following: lack of funds to start their business in order to make ends meet, lack of employment opportunity, and proper education and skill acquisition necessary for their involvement and development of the economy are not well transferred to the youth. They also lack useful information needed for their development. The factors influencing the involvement of youth in the socio-economic development of the Ohovbe community are multifaceted and deserve closer examination.
