ABSTRACT
The study focuses on the evaluation of the impact of the digitalization of Academic library resources on effective service delivery in John Harris library. The study’s goal was targeted at evaluating the extent to which the digitalization of academic library resources in John Harris library impact the retrieval of information materials by its user’s, determining the impact digitalization of library resources has on the effectiveness of service delivery at John Harris library, determining the factors affecting digitalization of academic libraries resources services in John Harris Library, evaluating the challenges encountered in the digitalization process at John Harris library and to assess how the library delivery of services and library resources in John Harris Library can be enhanced. The study adopted the use of descriptive survey research design, and the population used for this study was 87 librarians of which consists 30 professionals and 57 non-professional staff, the entire population was used as sample of the study. Questionnaire titled”evaluation of the impact of the digitalization of academic library resources on effective service delivery in John Harris library” were drawn and administered, (80) copies were retrieved from the respondents and found worthy of use. The findings indicated that, the digitalization of academic library resources at John Harris Library has influenced the retrieval of information by its users, hence, has made it easier for users to access the information they need. Budgetary constraints, lack of adequate training and technical expertise to manage digital resources and ensuring the accessibility and usability of digital materials are challenges encountered in the digitalization process at John Harris Library. The study concludes that ,the improved quality of services provided overall, made the library more accessible to those with special needs or impairments, and boosted its capacity to satisfy the varied information demands of its patrons.
